Presentation

Created in 1999, the PPGSS/UERJ chooses as areas of concentration significant and relevant themes for the country and for the State of Rio de Janeiro: work and social policy. Our main objective is to train high-level researchers in Social Work and related areas, qualified for higher education, for the production and dissemination of knowledge on issues related to work, social policies and Social Work in Latin America, with emphasis on Brazil, and for qualified intervention within the scope of social policies. The objectives of the Program, the time of existence of the courses and the high rate of academic production by the faculty, attested, above all, by the process of evaluating books in the area (Qualis Livros), makes the PPGSS/UERJ now have a national insertion and regional level already consolidated, which is expressed in the evolution of its selection process, in the demand for participation of external students and in the intensification of the search for post-doctoral studies. The PPGSS had its concept, attributed by CAPES, raised to 6 (six), and a process of internationalization of the Program is underway, especially with the attraction of students from Portuguese-speaking African and European countries, which we hope to consolidate in the coming years.
